ABOUT US
The Assistant Band Master of L-Unjoni Philharmonic Band is Mro Norbert Camilleri. Mro Camilleri’s music education spans over thirty years and includes pianoforte playing, theory of music/harmony and counterpoint, sacred music composition, performing and conducting.
As a keyboard player Norbert has performed with various local bands,playing locally and abroad. For a number of year he was the keyboardist and manager of a semi-classical band - Virtuosi, performing in weddings, village concerts and local television. As a pianist he has performed both as a soloist and has accompanied other instrument players and vocalists in concerts around Malta. He also served as the Director of the ‘Chorus Excelsior’ for a number of years.
His musical achievements includes Diploma in Sacred Music from the University of Malta, Associate and Licentiate Diplomas in Music Theory and Composition and Pianoforte performing from established Colleges namely London College of Music (L.Mus.LCM, A.Mus.LCM and ALCM), Royal Schools of Music and Victoria College of Music ( L.Mus.VCM and LVCM).He has composed choral works, including a number of Masses for choir and organ/chamber instruments in both contemporary and traditional style. Other musical works include marches, original works and arrangements for Orchestra and Concert Band.
Mro Camilleri forms also part of the Committee of the L-Unjoni Philarmonic Band, with the responsibility of coordinating the music tuition within our organisation.
